KCCA hosted His Excellency, the President of the 78th UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, on the sidelines of the NAM Summit and G77 meetings. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Gender, Ms. Mateeke, His Excellency, the Ambassador of Belgium to Uganda, Mr Hugues Chantry, and Dr. Mohamed El Munir A. Safieldin, the head UNICEF Uganda.
The guests were received at a KCCA school, Nakivubo Blue Primary School, by the KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka and the school headmistress to ululutations celebration. The UN President said the presentations by the children were heartwarming. UNICEF works in partnership with KCCA in a program known as GEG, Girls empowering Girls, to provide mentorship and training for adolescents to keep them in school and equip them with skills. Todate, the program has reached over 3000 girls.
