In a proactive move to bolster industrialization in the Moroto-Karamoja region, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Uganda, has announced significant strides in water infrastructure development.
A notable initiative involves the trenching of the ground to lay a 9-kilometer water mains pipeline to cater to the water needs of the new Sunbird Cement factory. This project aligns with the corporation’s commitment to supporting local industries and fostering economic growth in the region.
Addressing the power challenges affecting water production and supply at the Soroti City water treatment plant underscores NWSC’s dedication to overcoming obstacles in ensuring reliable water services. The successful resolution of the power issue has resulted in the restoration of water supply to Soroti City. As the system recharges, NWSC urges the community’s patience, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to enhance water accessibility.
Furthermore, NWSC has undertaken system upgrade works at the Lira water works, reflecting the corporation’s dedication to improving water supply reliability in Lira City. The completion of these upgrades has elevated water production from 9.12 million liters per day to an impressive 11.04 million liters per day. This expansion is crucial in meeting the growing demand for water in the city, contributing significantly to the well-being and development of the local populace.
MD Silver Mugisha’s leadership has played a pivotal role in steering NWSC towards these accomplishments, showcasing a commitment to sustainable development, community welfare, and effective water resource management. His strategic vision and proactive approach have positioned NWSC as a key player in advancing water infrastructure and addressing challenges to ensure a steady and reliable water supply for communities across Uganda.
The corporation, under Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha’s guidance, continues to uphold its mission of providing safe and clean water services, fostering economic development, and contributing to the overall well-being of the nation. As NWSC remains at the forefront of innovative solutions and infrastructure enhancements, the future promises continued progress and resilience in the face of water-related challenges.
