Police have said they have data that a part of legislators are making a solid attempt to commandeer the continuous dissent by Kampala merchants against the execution of e-receipting framework by URA.
A segment of brokers, particularly in Kikuubo have shut their shops fighting the execution of the Electronic Financial Receipting and Invoicing System(EFRIS).
Nonetheless, as per police, knowledge data has shown that a few lawmakers are attempting all potential ways of exploiting the continuous fights for their own self centered interests.
“Whereas the protest is purely business and tax related, what our intelligence is gathering is that some politicians ate trying to hijack the concerns from the business community to turn them into a countrywide civil uprising,” Police representative, Fred Enanga said on Monday.
He said that the aim of the lawmakers he didn’t name is to guarantee the dissent which is generally in Kampala fanned out all around the country as an approach to doling out its retributions with government.
Enanga made sense of that by seizing the dissent, legislators try to transform it into a common distress that will compel huge groups pour onto roads in a bid to cause government change however cautioned merchants against permitting to be utilized by “these entrepreneurs.”
“It is something(hijacking) we will not allow. We want to encourage business community to stay clear and avoid politicking . They should not allow politicians expand it into political demonstrations that can turn into a countrywide uprising,” Enanga cautioned.
Prior, Kampala Metropolitan agent police representative, Luke Owoyesigyire had shown that they had captured two people who were found consuming vehicle tires at Nabugabo Square.
Prior, brokers body, Kampala City Merchants Association(KACITA) had requested that its individuals stop the fights in the wake of having a gathering with charge body URA and Confidential Area Establishment Uganda.
KACITA administrator, Thadeus Musoek Nagenda on Monday said they had been asked by strict pioneers from the Muslim confidence to end the fights until the Eid festivities that mark the finish of the blessed month of Ramadan are finished.
